As the Krita Yuga gave way to the Treta Yuga, the Ganesha Purana describes Shree Ganesh's second great incarnation: Mayuresvara, born this time directly to Shiva and Parvati, six-armed and radiant with a white complexion.
A Different Age, A Different Form
Where Mahotkata had been born to Kashyapa and Aditi with ten arms suited to his particular battles, Mayuresvara's birth to Shiva and Parvati themselves, and his distinct six-armed, white-complexioned form, marks him as suited to the particular demands of the Treta Yuga that awaited him.
A Purpose Already Set
This incarnation entered the world with a specific mission already before him: the demon Sindhu, whose growing power through possession of a divine and dangerous boon would come to threaten the stability of all three worlds.
What Devotees Seek
Mayuresvara's birth continues the pattern established by Mahotkata: that each age of the world receives the particular form of Shree Ganesh it most needs, born specifically to answer the dangers unique to that time.
